I had a plan for this weekend. I've been meaning to synthesize my class with Kathryn Alexander. I wanted to take pictures of the samples and talk about what I learned from this amazing woman. That was the plan (please note use of "was"). I got sidetracked.
So many people at SOAR asked "Are you on Ravelry?" I've been a member since July (I think), but haven't had much of a look around. On Saturday morning, I decided to have a look. You can guess what happened. I've been taking pictures of my stash and entering it all into the database. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while now (the organizing), just never got the push to do it. The Louisiana
Room looks like a yarn store exploded.
Here's what I've discovered about my stash:
1. The organization by color thing (a la Sally Melville) isn't really working for me. I need some suggestions about how to better organize.
2. I'm a one-ball wonder. There are so many single skeins in my stash ... I don't even know how to finish that sentence. Either I need to swatch the balls of yarn I buy for swatching, or I need to make a giant fugly schmattah and use them all up.
3. I have too much yarn. I know, I know, there's never too much yarn, but it's taking me longer than a couple of days to categorize and touch everything - that's too much. There will be some charitable yarn giving and even some selling (I love the category in Ravelry that lets me put stuff up for sale or trade!). I hope to get it manageable within 6 months.
4. Unfinished Objects: Must. Be. Completed.
So, are you on Ravelry?
I have a very bad habit of checking Ravelry incessantly every day. I keep finding things I want to make. It's a sickness.
